UA have identified an opportunity to exploit UK marginal offshore stranded gas fields by means of gas-to-wire facility co-developed with an offshore wind farm (the Co-Development concept).

Summary Statement

UA have undertaken an internal study to explore the UK development of marginal offshore stranded gas fields as gas-to-wire facility co-developed with an offshore wind farm. Study included:

  • Overview of technical and commercial drivers for stranded gas developments and UK wind energy developments including revenue structure
  • Identification of issues & synergies for co-development concept
  • Identification of potential prospect, and development of associated CAPEX/OPEX
  • Post-tax economic evaluation against reference wind-farm, including sensitivities to key factors such as strike price, power purchase agreements, wind farm capacity factors, offshore transmission owner tariffs.
